For over 132 years, we have been dedicated to enhancing the quality of life and economic development in the Neponset River Region by connecting business, community, education, and government.

Our History
A Rich Legacy: The History of the Neponset River Regional Chamber (Since 1894)
The Neponset River Regional Chamber has deep roots in the economic and communal life of the Neponset River Region—spanning over 130 years of steadfast support for local businesses, education, and policy-aligned growth.
1894–1926
Founding and Early Years
The story begins in 1894, when a group of local businessmen met at Village Hall, occupying J.M. Folan’s shoe store, to establish the Norwood Business Association—under the leadership of George S. Winslow, owner of Winslow & Sons Tannery Norwood Historical Society Neponset River Regional Chamber. Earlier, in 1892–1893, a town meeting had already sparked interest in forming a formal body to “further the general interests of the town and especially to consider and devise ways and means of increasing the business done in the town” Norwood Historical Society.
By the turn of the 20th century, the Association took on broader civic roles. In 1901, they encouraged Norwood children to design a town seal incorporating symbols of industry—books, printing presses, smokestacks—even leather—though ultimately, the winning design by Ethel Hubbard was not adopted Heather S. Cole.
1926–1988
Evolution and Expansion
In 1926, recognizing its growing role, the Norwood Business Association was renamed the Norwood Chamber of Commerce, signaling its official status as a business advocate in the community Neponset River Regional Chamber. It continued to serve as an anchor institution through economic fluctuations—from the Great Depression to post-war industrial shifts.
1988–2019
Becoming Regional: Neponset Valley Chamber
By the late 20th century, the Chamber’s scope had expanded beyond Norwood alone. In 1988, the organization rebranded as the Neponset Valley Chamber of Commerce, reflecting its regional membership and vision Neponset River Regional Chamber Revize.
This period brought new structure and depth. Membership swelled, numbering in the hundreds, with participation by both large national corporations and thriving small- to medium-sized companies RevizeCause IQ. The Chamber earned accolades regionally, consistently ranking among the top five in the Boston Business Journal’s “Top 25 Chambers of Commerce” Revize. Its offerings expanded to include industry-specific alliances—Attorney Alliance, Events Alliance, Elder Care Alliance, Human Resources Council—designed to help members collaborate on shared interests Revize.
2019–present
Present Day: Neponset River Regional Chamber
In 2019, the Chamber adopted its current name: the Neponset River Regional Chamber, further embracing its mission to serve the broader Neponset River Region—including Canton, Dedham, Foxborough, Medfield, Norwood, Sharon, Stoughton, Walpole, Westwood, and beyond Neponset River Regional ChamberNorwood Space Center.
Today, the Chamber remains a vibrant organization of over 500 members. It champions economic development and quality of life across the region through award-winning initiatives in regional economic planning, public policy advocacy, and structured networking—featuring leads groups, educational seminars, golf tournaments, and “Chambertalks” Zoom events Cause IQBetter Business Bureau.
The Chamber hosts focused industry groups—Human Resources Alliance, Elder Care Alliance, Women’s Leadership Alliance—that empower members to collaborate on targeted issues. Its Government Affairs Committee vigilantly monitors development along major corridors (Routes 1, 128, I-95) and keeps members informed on legislation impacting business operations Neponset River Regional ChamberCause IQ.
